USING DIGITAL TRACEABILITY TO INCREASE FOOD SAFETY AND REGAIN TRUST
The European Union imposed an embargo on fruits and vegetables from Ghana in response to several cases of contamination, delivering an estimated $15-million blow to the country’s agriculture-dependent economy.
The ban was lifted only after a GeoTraceability solution was implemented, allowing Ghana to improve the safety of is fruit and vegetable exports, regain trust, and comply with EU phytosanitary legislation to eliminate the presence of quarantine pests.
